Attached to The Avalon complex on the Landsdowne Street strip, The Modern offers the heights of expensive, swanky nightlife glamour. The martinis are creative (or cheesy, depending on your point of view) and so is the well-off, beautiful crown that descends on this dark, low-to-the-ground space every weekend. A rotating parade of DJ’s provide enough shish-ka-boom to keep the little-black-dress-wearing hotties bopping their heads.The door policy can be brutal. Be rich, cute or persistent – all three is ideal. They sell actual memberships, which strike us as a scary commitment, but they do get you in the door with no problems at all.
